SASfit is a special tool to fit small angle scattering (SAS) data with the help of a simple fitting routine. It has been implemented in such a way, that the fitting routine is based on a traditional Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm. The major capabilities and rules of SASfit are as follows: The program only fits isotropic models to the data. The program handles an arbitrary number of curves (weeks or months can be fitted easily). It is possible to perform simultaneous fits of several scattering curves at the same time. In case the model has no defined orientation it performs the fit orienting the model according to a user defined orientation. The user can define the model input variables. SASfit is scalable, meaning that you can define the number of fitting parameters as well as the fitting interval. SASfit handles models of arbitrary particle shapes. The user can constrain the fitting intervals and the constraints can be used as penalties to the fitting algorithm. Finally, SASfit works well with any kind of data (INSIDE or OUTSIDE the fitting interval). The following input/output options are available: Input: Data can be provided in any ASCII text file format. The data can be provided as: Either raw data or scattered data transformed to total structure factor, transformation to scattering invariant, transformation to Porod constant and depolarised extinction values. The scattering data can be provided in any native SAS data format. The minimum number of data values is 10. Data values should be provided for different incident and scattered waves. The data values should be clearly identified by their source (e.g. file name, path,…). Output: The calculated model parameters can be provided in any text format. The program calculates structural parameters from the scattering data by means of a Fitting Algorithm. The input data can be specified either in the form of a MDI file, an ASCII file with the structure of a MDI file (see SASfit manual), a MDI file converted to a text file (see SASfit manual), a SAS2Q file, or a SAS2Q file converted to an ASCII file (see SASfit manual).
