There are many way to describe Tarnished. Basically, it’s a MMO or a mix between a MMO and a JRPG. You start out by creating your first character (customizable from head to toe) then explore the world with your new friend and later meets other people who become friends. You also go on quite some adventures at some parts, and it’s basically a role-playing game in a MMORPG environment.
I have never played a RTS game before and wasn’t sure if I was going to be intrigued by such games in the beginning. Then the title intrigued me a little bit and I started thinking about how the kingdom’s name is an anagram of the role-playing game RPG. And I was intrigued. (I must say that I understood what I was doing at that moment and I understood the meaning of fantasy world, such as crazy monsters and warriors). I spent more than a week playing this game and it’s close to perfect for me. I would say that it’s better than Final Fantasy 7, and it’s even better than Lord of the Rings Online.
The graphics are not that advanced because the game is an old one. However the story is pretty good and is worth your time. That is why I’d recommend it. The dungeons are also fun to explore because it’s a MMORPG and there’s a lot of possible loot to find and get.
As for the gameplay, it’s a typical role-playing game in MMORPG style. I can easily describe it. Basically you have 3 different characters, the main character, the party member and the secondary. The main character runs around, hits monsters with a bow, and other secondary runs around with the main character to attack the monster with a sword. You can see how that works. Then the party member hits the monster with his sword. The role-playing part comes in when you have to switch your party member to heal your main character and other party members.
You also can upgrade your classes, skills, weapons and outfits while you’re doing everything else, such as leveling up, exploring dungeons, meeting NPCs and other things.
In the end I think that it’s a good game and would highly recommend it.
