Q: What does choledocal cyst mean? I had a few days of intense pain and now have a cyst on my right side. It appears to be a fluid, but the cyst is sometimes hard and sometimes soft. (I’m using „cyst“ because it’s „mammary“ in Spanish, and it’s a more common term than „cystocele“.) A: In English, a cyst on the body is a cavity, and a choledocal cyst is a cavity in your bile duct. It is not a gallbladder cyst as some commenters have mentioned; they can be distinguished in that a gallbladder cyst is commonly on the right side while choledocal cysts can be on either side. Bile duct cysts are also commonly bilateral, so their locations may sound similar. ^[@CR43]^.
